I. Executive Summary
The Lawren Foundation successfully conducted the 3rd Edition of its Free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration, benefiting five communities in the region. The goal to promote health security and accessibility was met, with a significant increase in the number of registrations compared to the previous editions.
II. Objective
The mission was to enable access to free healthcare for theunderprivileged members of the communities, emphasizing the importance of health security within the region. The project aimed to register a minimum of 5000 residents ( children under 18 years) across the five communities.
III. Approach
The Lawren Foundation partnered with local health centers, community leaders, and volunteers to carry out the registration process. Awareness campaigns were conducted to educate the communities about the importance and benefits of the NHIS.
IV. Implementation
The event spanned four 5days with each community allocated a specific day for the registration process. The team provided assistance in the completion of application forms, identity verification, and submission. The foundation also offered free excise books and snacks across during the registration periods.
V. Results
The program registered a total of 510 pupils , surpassing the target by 10%. The breakdown of the registration across the communities is as follows:
1. Community A: 100
2. Community B: 88
3. Community C: 104
4. Community D: 97
5. Community E: 121
VI. Impact
The program has significantly increased the number of insured individuals in the five communities. This initiative will likely reduce the financial burden of healthcare expenses for parents thus improving the overall health and wellbeing of the communities.
VII. Challenges and Recommendations
The major challenge encountered was the initial reluctance of some community members to register due to lack of awareness of the NHIS benefits. To address this, future programs could have a more extensive awareness campaign prior to the registration process.
VIII. Conclusion
The Lawren Foundation’s 3rd Edition of its Free NHIS registration was successful, having surpassed the set target. The foundation remains committed to its goals of promoting health security and improving the quality of life within these communities. We are grateful for all the partnerships and look forward to future initiatives.
